August 2026 Revenue & Compliance Update

You’ve Earned the Revenue. Let’s Make Sure You Keep It.

Healthcare reimbursement and compliance requirements continue to evolve.
Here are the key updates physician practices should be watching this month.

📢 Policy Watch: CMS Proposes Major Changes to Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM)

CMS has proposed changes that could significantly impact how physician practices manage and bill for Remote Patient Monitoring services. While RPM is not being eliminated, practices that rely on third-party vendors may need to reevaluate their current programs if the rule is finalized.

🩺 Practice Update: BCBSTX Medicaid Reviews Begin October 2

BCBSTX Medicaid will begin post-payment claim reviews on October 2, 2026.

If your practice participates with BCBSTX Medicaid, now is a good time to review documentation, coding accuracy, and compliance processes to help reduce audit risk.

Practices that prepare now are often better positioned to avoid payment adjustments, repayment requests, and unnecessary administrative burden later.

👀  Compliance Watch: Medicare SI Joint Injection Claims Under Scrutiny

A recent OIG audit found that 72 of 100 sampled Medicare SI joint injection sessions did not meet one or more requirements. Learn where OIG found problems and what pain practices should review now.

HIPAA & Cybersecurity Reminder:

Is Your Team Prepared for Today’s Scams?

Healthcare scams are becoming more convincing, using realistic emails, phone calls, texts and QR codes to steal information or redirect payments. Practices should ensure all workforce members receive appropriate HIPAA and security awareness training and conduct regular phishing simulations to help employees recognize suspicious messages.

Remind your team: Stop. Verify. Report. Never click, share information or approve a payment until the request has been confirmed through a trusted contact method.

Featured Article: AI in Healthcare: Are You Asking the Right Questions?

AI tools are quickly becoming part of everyday medical practice operations, from documentation and coding to scheduling, patient access, and revenue cycle management.

But before implementing a new AI solution, practices need to understand more than what the technology can do. They also need to evaluate data use, human oversight, vendor accountability, update controls, and potential compliance and financial risk.

Peregrine Insight: If an AI tool influences documentation, coding, billing, denials, or patient access, it should be evaluated as both a technology and compliance decision.

Client Love Corner

A Referral We’re Proud Of 🎉

A special shoutout to our Contracting & Credentialing Team! We recently learned that one of our large Houston area physician network clients referred a physician launching a new private practice to Peregrine for payer credentialing assistance. Their feedback? “Peregrine is very responsive and great to work with.” Referrals from trusted industry partners are one of the highest compliments we can receive.

“A Breath of Fresh Air” 🌬️

More praise for our Contracting & Credentialing Team came from the administrator of one of our ASC clients, who shared: “It’s a breath of fresh air to work with someone who is on top of things.” We appreciate the trust our clients place in us every day.

Kudos to our Patient Advocate Team! 🙌

One patient shared that her representative provided exceptional service, clearly explaining and resolving balance concerns and complaints in a way that no one else had been able to do. The conversation ended with a satisfied patient and payment collected in full, a true win-win for everyone involved.
